Once you have completed the checklist a range of strategies will be suggested with elements specific to the behaviour type and function highlighted.

Strategies Checklist for Disruptive Behaviours
Examples of disruptive behaviours include:
- Calling out or making inappropriate comments.
- Distracting peers.
- Unapproved out of seat behaviours such as excessive performance of regular tasks such as getting a drink or sharpening pencil.
- Refusing to comply with instructions or arguing back with teacher.
- Not attempting task and engaging in another activity.
- Not following stated rules or safety procedures.
Strategies Checklist for Internalising Behaviours
Examples of internalising behaviours include:
- Shutdown or withdrawal from others/classroom program
- Low-level self-injurious behaviours such as skin picking, pulling at own hair, etc.
- Physical and verbal agitation when emotional such as pacing, flapping, screaming, grunting etc.
Strategies Checklist for Aggressive Behaviours
Examples of aggressive behaviours include:
- Targeted ‘disrespectful language’ and/or swearing directed at either adults or peers.
- General verbal threats of property damage or harm to unspecified others.
- Targeted threats directed at either others.
- Physically aggression directed at others *does not include serious aggression such as using objects as weapons.
- Fighting / trying to incite a fight with peers.
- Untargeted or targeted throwing of classroom materials.
Strategies Checklist Being Out of Class Without Permission
Examples of being out of class without permission include:
- Leaving room without adult knowledge or permission.
- Entering out of bounds areas.
- Not entering classroom at designated time or when asked to by an adult.
- Roaming the school grounds.
