Does the student:
- Fail to complete work they are capable of doing?
- Complete work unreasonably slowly?
- Rely on constant supervision or prompting from staff?

Proactive Strategies
These are simple proactive strategies that can be easily implemented in classrooms. Check that you have implemented these proactive strategies.
- Are you sure you have given clear instructions?
- Are you sure students are able to complete tasks independently with the level of independence expected?
- Have you removed distractions where possible?
- Have you got effective strategies to seek assistance when the student gets stuck?
- Are students seated where you can monitor (observe) progress?
- Have you got a system for students to ensure they have materials they need to complete work?
- Do students have the opportunity to move around and have a break if this is appropriate?
